Safe Start is a protected submission path inside United WE Fund for people navigating domestic violence, unsafe living situations, family separation, or any circumstance where privacy is not just preferred, it is necessary.
When you submit through Safe Start, your story goes directly to our team before anything is visible to anyone else. Nothing is published publicly without your knowledge and your approval of what is shown.
With a standard submission, your request enters the review queue and a public-facing version of your story is visible to givers while the fund works toward clearing it.
With Safe Start, that does not happen. Your submission is held privately. Our team reviews it personally. We work with you on what, if anything, is shared publicly. The fund still clears your request. The community still shows up for you.
They just do not need your full story to do it.
Safe Start is for anyone who needs it. You do not have to prove your situation qualifies. You do not have to explain why you need privacy. If Safe Start feels right for your circumstances, use it. That is what it is there for.
It is often used by people navigating situations including domestic violence, unsafe housing, or anything where a public story could create risk.
Your legal name is never displayed publicly without your permission. Your address, your children's information, and any details you mark as private stay private. What givers see is only what you choose to share.
Our team handles every Safe Start submission personally. These are not routed through automated systems. A real person reviews your submission, contacts you directly, and walks with you through the process.
All payouts on United WE Fund are processed through Stripe, one of the most trusted and secure payment platforms in the world. Stripe connects directly to your bank account and transfers funds to you privately and directly. United WE Fund never holds your money and never has access to your account.
One thing we gently encourage for anyone using Safe Start: before you submit, it is worth taking a moment to make sure you have a bank account that belongs to you alone. When funds clear, they go directly to the account you connect through Stripe — and only to that account. Having your own account means your payout reaches you, and only you, exactly the way it was intended.
If you need help getting started with that, organizations like your local credit union or community bank can often open an account quickly and without a lot of requirements. We want to make sure what this community sends you actually lands where it belongs.
Safe Start exists because some of the people who need this community most are also the ones who cannot safely ask for help in public. We built this feature for you specifically.
If you are not sure whether Safe Start is right for your situation, reach out to us directly. We will help you figure it out together.
